The Canadian Cycling Association is a National Sport Organization whose main reason for being is the organization and promotion of cycling in Canada. The activities of the Association are carried out within the constraints of sound business practices with regard to the ethics required of professional staff and to the spirit in which its volunteers function.

MANDATE

  • To act as an umbrella organization for the provincial and territorial federations or associations who promote cycling as well as for all bicycle users
  • To further the activities of the cycling federation or associations throughout Canada
  • To promote the expansion and operation of the membership agencies
  • To promote the formulation and implementation of a favourable general cycling policy
  • To defend and protect the rights of its members
  • To affiliate with the Union Cycliste Internationale, in addition, with any organization that can help it achieve its objectives
  • And in general, to administer and promote cycling in all its aspects

The CCA is the recognized authority by the UCI (Union Cycliste International) on all aspects of sport cycling in Canada. It is our ambition to:

  • Strengthen the sport of cycling
  • Increase the rate of participation in the sport of cycling
  • Ensure the best representation of cycling by Canadians

  • Members are the most important element in consideration of the direction of the CCA (members are defined as provincial/territorial associations, individuals and associate members)

  • The CCA is governed by volunteers to ensure balance in the overall business of the Association
  • Committees are empowered to act within the approved strategic plan and budget
  • Demonstrate integrity in all aspects of the business through open and direct accountability to its membership
  • Discrimination and harassment are not tolerated as the CCA operates in an environment of mutual trust and respect between participants, volunteers and staff
  • Facilitate standardisation in the delivery of programs and services
  • Support development of strategic partnerships
  • Equality of access to the services of the CCA
